Inferred Search Prompts
When someone asks an AI platform a question, the AI may send a bot to your website to gather information for its answer. Inferred Search Prompts works backward from that bot visit to figure out what the user likely asked. This reveals search demand you might not know exists. Why This Matters
You can only track prompts you already know about. But travelers ask AI platforms thousands of questions you have never thought to monitor. Inferred Search Prompts uncovers these hidden queries so you can:- Discover new prompts worth tracking
- Understand what travelers actually want to know about your destination
- Spot emerging trends in traveler intent before competitors do
- Fill gaps in your prompt tracking strategy
How Prompts Are Inferred
The platform works from the URL a bot requested, using three techniques in order of reliability:Prompt matching
We compare the URL a bot requested, its path, query string and page title, against the prompts you already track. A strong word overlap means we can name the likely prompt with high confidence. For example, a bot requesting/spa/thermal-baths on a workspace already tracking “best spa hotels in Bali” is a strong match.
AI reasoning
When no tracked prompt matches, we ask an AI model to read the URL and infer the question a real traveller would have asked to end up on that page. These are educated guesses, so they are capped at 75% confidence however plausible they look.Page topic analysis
Where we have the page title and body content, we extract its main topic and phrase it as a question. This is the weakest signal and is used only when the other two produce nothing.Inference is based on which page was requested, not on timing. We do not correlate a bot visit
against the moment a tracked prompt produced an AI answer, and we do not match facts in an AI
response back to your page.
Confidence
Every inferred prompt carries a confidence percentage, shown as a badge next to it:- 80% and above (green), a strong match against a prompt you already track
- 60-79% (amber), a reasonable match, worth validating
- Below 60% (grey), treat as a brainstorming prompt, not a finding
How to Use Inferred Prompts
Discover New Prompts to Track
The most immediate use is expanding your prompt list. When you see inferred prompts with high confidence that you are not already tracking, add them. You may find entire categories of traveler questions you were not monitoring.Identify Content Gaps
If inferred prompts suggest travelers are asking questions your website does not answer well, that is a content opportunity. Creating or improving pages to address these topics can improve your chances of being cited.Spot Trends
Watch for patterns in inferred prompts over time:- Seasonal shifts: Different questions emerge at different times of year
- Emerging interests: New activities, experiences, or concerns travelers care about
- Competitor-related queries: Questions comparing you to competitors reveal positioning opportunities
Validate with Tracking
The best way to confirm an inferred prompt is to add it to your tracked prompts. Within one or two tracking runs, you will have real data showing whether AI platforms mention you for it.Inferred Search Prompts requires Crawler Analytics to be active, because the inference engine needs bot visit data to work. Crawler Analytics is included on the Professional plan, or available as an add-on on any plan. See Crawler Analytics for setup details.
